The Advisory Board for Defence Information (ABDI) is a permanent parliamentary committee operating in the Ministry of Defence. The Government appoints the board for one legislative period.
ABDI organises seminars on security policy, national defence and the state of preparedness for crisis situations and emergencies. In addition, ABDI conducts annual opinion polls on foreign and security policy, and on national defence and security. It also supports the preparedness planning of various authorities in order to develop crisis resilience, for example.
ABDI has a secretariat and close links with similar organisations in the other Nordic countries, especially Sweden and Norway.
