A standby force is a force designed to counter rapidly evolving threats:
- Standby detachments: called up primarily in the event of disturbances during normal conditions but can also be used for national defence tasks.
- Standby units: called up primarily for military national defence tasks but can also be used for executive assistance tasks.
- Troops of immediate readiness: to create a deterrent to the use of military force against Finland, the implementation of combat tasks can begin.
Reinforcement forces will create the ability to act in a protracted crisis by complementing previously established troops.
Reserve troops may be ordered to refresher training if a military threat so requires.
